Basic Mediation Skills Training (21 hours)

Conflict is common, natural and offers a range of opportunities.  How we deal with conflict is a choice.  In between working things out on our own and some form of legal intervention, or worse an act of violence, there exists the option of mediation.

Focused on learning both the basic principles and practices of a mediated process through instruction, group exercises, and experiential role-plays with extensive one-on-one coaching, this training concentrates on the following:

MEDIATION PRINCIPLES

  • Understanding the Spectrum of Conflict
  • Learning the Basic Principles of Mediation
  • Exploring the Benefits and Applications of Mediation
  • Recognizing the Importance of Case Development
  • Refining Personal Communication Skills

MEDIATION PRACTICES

  • Developing Good Mediator Techniques
  • Increasing Awareness Regarding Assumption and Bias
  • Cultivating Trust and Confidence
  • Working with Difficult People
  • Learning and Practicing Mediation  

Basic Communication Skills Workshops (2-8 hours)

Presentations and workshops for small and large groups include:

  • Refining Personal Communication Skills
  • Increasing Awareness Regarding Assumption and Bias
  • Cultivating Trust and Confidence
  • Solving Problems and Preventing Violence
