JACKLYN Y. BOOR


Jackie Boor is an accomplished and well-regarded mediator, facilitator, writer, and civic engagement specialist. She has conducted successful problem-solving projects for the City and County of Sacramento, the Sierra Health Foundation, the Florin Road and Sacramento Downtown Partnerships, the Pharmacists Foundation of California, and the Sacramento Municipal Utility District. With colleague Jeanette Sartain, Jackie developed PeaceMoves: Working with Conflict, an innovative program offering trainings in dispute resolution and communication, including interactive workshops addressing conflict for re-entry prison inmates.

MEDIATOR, FACILITATOR AND TRAINER: Co-developer of PeaceMoves: Working with Conflict, (since 2007); Senior Program Manager and Lead Mediator for the Sacramento Mediation Center’s Multiple Party Dispute Resolution Program, specializing in conflict resolution and interest-based problem solving related to issues of crime, blight, nuisance, and land use (1999 to 2007); facilitated the Cathedral Square Program for the Homeless and formation of the Oak Park Neighborhood Association; and a community partnership trainer for the Regional Community Policing Institute – Sacramento (1996 to 2003).

WRITER AND DEBATE COACH: Freelance writer published in numerous publications, trade journals, and newspapers; brochures, press releases, resumes, biographies, business proposals, newsletters, annual reports, manuals, grant proposals and scripts (1980 to present); currently collaborating with Lt. Col. Gene Boyer on his memoirs titled Inside the President's Helicopter: Reflections of the White House Senior Pilot; edited Myths, Mysteries & Management of Alcohol and The Smallest Things Make the Biggest Difference by Ray Haring, Ph.D.; We the People: a Story of Internment by Mary Tsukamoto; wrote narrative script for River of Magic: Exploring India’s Tons River produced by Grant Rogers & Associates; and co-authored Real Estate Options: How to $core in a Tight Market, Prentice Hall, Inc.; Class A intercollegiate forensic speech and debate coach/judge for Los Rios Community College District (1990 to 1995).

ORGANIZATION AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT: Represented Sacramento County District II on the Sacramento Transportation and Air Quality Collaborative, a multi-stakeholder organization dedicated to addressing long-term issues and policies related to air quality, transportation, land use and social equity, and was instrumental in creating citizen engagement component (2001 to 2005); founding member of Sacramento ENRICHES, a children’s health and safety initiative, and wrote grants, developed promotional strategies and facilitated numerous group activities including a year-long Learning Circle Project funded by the Sierra Health Foundation focused on cultivating social capital (1998 to 2005); neighborhood organizer and special projects consultant for SAFE STREETS, a nonprofit community empowerment and mobilization organization (1994 to1998).
